Here is some information on the park openings, as well as great information on a food pantry collection site, from Assemblyman Jay Webber…
As many of you know, on the very day that Governor Murphy imposed executive order 118 closing all State and County parks and forests – April 7 – I was the first official in the State to call on the Governor to rescind that order. I issued an open letter to the Governor and invited New Jerseyans to sign on to urge him to reverse course. So many of you signed that petition, and I am thrilled to announce that the PARKS WILL REOPEN ON SATURDAY!
The open space of our parks and forests is essential to the physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being of our residents, and I am pleased that Governor Murphy finally recognized their importance during this stressful time. Thank you to the over 13,000 individuals who signed our petition to reopen our parks and the thousands more who joined together all across our State. By signing, you became a leader in this movement. When a group of passionate citizens join together, they truly can make a difference.
You did it! We did it! Now go enjoy those parks, responsibly, and I’ll keep working to get New Jersey back on its feet in other ways, safely.
Two weeks ago, I continued to use our time of forced social distancing to highlight the amazing volunteer work being done at the St. Peter the Apostle Food Pantry in Parsippany. Thank you to all who donated to their operations, their weekend food drive was a huge success and many families in the area will now have the food they greatly need. Special shout out to Fr. David and the volunteers for all their hard work!
There is, however, always a need, and if you are able to donate food or money to the food pantry, the 3rd weekend of every month is their collection weekend.
Location: All Saints Academy, 189 Baldwin Road, Parsippany (Proceed to back of building)
Collection Hours: 9am to 3pm.
Best wishes and good health,
